About this project
This Rutherford homeowner had a specific problem. During a recent driveway job, a hot asphalt roller was backed into the garage and the heat peeled up the builder-grade coating the developer had put down. The concrete underneath was fine, less than two years old, but the surface needed to be fully stripped and started fresh.
He found us on Facebook and needed it done fast. We squeezed him in on a Sunday.
The color choice was Stargazer, a light gray flake blend that keeps the space feeling open without showing every tire mark and scuff from daily garage use.
Installation process
We started with an industrial diamond grinder to strip the peeled coating and open the bare concrete underneath. After grinding, we vacuumed all dust with an industrial vacuum.
We filled the light settlement cracks along the slab before coating. Then we applied a moisture vapor barrier, a non-negotiable step in our process regardless of moisture readings, because it protects the bond long term.
While the MVB was still fresh, we broadcast Simiron Stargazer flakes wall to wall across the full 500 square feet. After curing, we vacuumed the loose excess and applied a polyaspartic topcoat for a hard, chemical-resistant finish built to handle cars, tools, and everything a working garage throws at it.
