About this project
Kiran found us through a Facebook ad. Her garage in Princeton had seen better days. Long settlement cracks ran across the full slab, oil staining had worked into the concrete, and the floor had the worn, unfinished look that comes from years of use with no protective coating.
She also wanted the concrete apron in front of the garage doors included. That detail matters. Coating just the floor inside and stopping at the door leaves a visible line where finished ends and unfinished begins. Extending the coating out onto the apron ties everything together and makes the transformation visible from the driveway.
She chose Basalt from our color chart, a deep charcoal flake blend that contrasts sharply with the white garage walls and black exterior trim. The result reads clean and intentional from the street.
Installation process
We started with an industrial diamond grinder to open the concrete surface across the full slab and apron. After grinding, we vacuumed all dust with an industrial vacuum.
We filled and repaired the settlement cracks before coating. Nothing structural, but long surface cracks need to be addressed before the MVB goes down or they telegraph through the finished surface. We applied a moisture vapor barrier across the full area, then broadcast Simiron Basalt flakes wall to wall, covering the interior floor and running out onto the apron. After curing, we vacuumed the loose excess flakes and applied a polyaspartic topcoat for a hard, glossy, durable finish.
