Flake System Garage Floor Coating in Bridgewater, NJ
A 3-car garage in Bridgewater, barely two years old, already showing heavy tire marks and moisture staining. Simiron Tidal Wave flake system, one day, done right.
“Amazing work by the whole team at JC Epoxy! Highly recommend them to anyone considering doing their garage floors. Work was all complete in one day as well.”
About this project
Syed found us on Facebook. His home in Bridgewater was relatively new, a year or two old, but the 3-car garage floor was already showing the signs. Heavy tire marks, moisture staining, and the kind of concrete wear that comes from daily use with nothing protecting the surface. He did not want to come home every day and see that.
The garage also had an EV charger installed on the wall. Raw concrete and electric vehicles are not a good combination. Moisture transfers through uncoated concrete and over time it affects the battery. A sealed, coated floor eliminates that.
He chose Tidal Wave from our color chart, a cool blue-gray blend that suits a clean, modern garage.
Installation process
1. Grind the walls
We grind along the edges to prep the base where the floor meets the wall
2. Grind the floor
We diamond grind the full concrete surface so the coating bonds properly
3. Vacuum after grinding
We vacuum all dust with HEPA filter vacuums so nothing contaminates the coating
4. Cover Cracks
Every crack filled and sealed so they don't telegraph through the coating
5. Paint the sidewalls
Base coat goes on the edges first
6. Broadcast flakes on sidewalls
Flakes applied to the edges while the base coat is wet
7. Apply moisture vapor barrier
MVB applied to the full floor to block moisture from below
8. Broadcast flakes on the floor
Full broadcast across the entire floor surface
9. Scrape the flakes
Excess flakes scraped flat for a smooth, even surface
10. Vacuum the excess
Loose flakes vacuumed up before topcoat goes down
11. Apply the polyaspartic topcoat
Durable clear coat applied for protection and gloss
12. Roll it out
Final roll for a smooth, consistent finish
We started with an industrial diamond grinder to open the concrete surface and cut through the tire marks and staining on the top layer. After grinding, we vacuumed all dust with an industrial vacuum.
We applied a moisture vapor barrier across the full 822 square feet before anything else went down. While it was still fresh, we broadcast Simiron Tidal Wave flakes wall to wall across the entire slab. After curing, we vacuumed the loose excess flakes and applied a polyaspartic topcoat for a hard, glossy, chemical-resistant finish.
822 square feet. One day. The whole team on it start to finish.
