Bob found us on Facebook. His 2-car garage in Manville had a floor that had completely given up. The previous coating had failed across the entire slab, peeling in large sections, with heavy black staining and spalling worked into the concrete underneath. Whatever had been put down before was not built to last.
He cleared the garage out the night before, had the cars out of the driveway by the time we arrived, and was ready to go. That kind of preparation makes a difference on a one-day job.
He chose Feather Gray from our color chart, a soft, neutral blend that works well in a garage that doubles as a workspace. Bob is a Tesla owner, and a properly coated floor matters for EV owners. Raw or failing concrete transfers moisture, and that moisture can drain a car battery over time. A sealed, coated floor eliminates that.
Installation process
The floor condition meant extra work on the front end. We ground the entire slab with an industrial diamond grinder to strip the failed coating, remove the spalling, and get down to clean, solid concrete. This is not a job a small grinder handles. After grinding, we vacuumed all dust and debris with an industrial vacuum.
We applied a moisture vapor barrier across the full slab. Given the condition of the previous coating, moisture was almost certainly a factor in why it failed. The MVB seals that off before anything new goes down.
While the MVB was still fresh, we broadcast Simiron Feather Gray flakes wall to wall across all 400 square feet. After curing, we vacuumed the loose excess and applied a polyaspartic topcoat for a hard, chemical-resistant, glossy finish.
One day. From one of the worst floors we have walked into, to a surface that will hold up for years.
